Welcome to the history pages of the Redeemer cross-country team. |
|
Holy Redeemer High School opened its doors in 1882 and closed in Spring 2005. The cross-country program began in 1927, was cancelled several years later and was reinvigorated in 1967. Over the years the cross-country teams earned several honors including an individual boys Class B state champion in 1928, a 3rd place Class B girls state championship finish in 1974, a boys Regional Championship in 1999 and too many Catholic League and Sectional championships to count. The Redeemer cross-country staff moved to Cesar Chavez High School in the Fall of 2005 and has continued the running traditions of hard work, competition and winning that were also found at Redeemer. This part of the Cesar Chavez web-site is dedicated to the history of our running program - the Redeemer web-site as it primarily existed when the school closed. All of the alumni of Redeemer are considered "alums" of Cesar Chavez and so we welcome you home - home to a school of academic excellence located in Southwest Detroit. Welcome to those of you who are friends, alumni, and supporters of youth in Southwest Detroit - our mission continues: "Be the change you wish to see take place in the World:" Coach Pat |
